Computational Design

We develop novel design tools that intuitively explore the design space of various architectural elements such as planar curves, rods, or flexible sheets. Our tools enable automatic adjustments of architectural designs with guaranteed fabricability.

AI-Powered Fabrication

We develop novel AI assisted methods for additive manufacturing. Our methods use reinforcement learning to discover valid printing policies through direct interaction with the printing hardware. This allows on-the-fly handling of challenging problems such as material spilling or color mixing.

Programmable Materials

We design metamaterials that encode both physical properties and time. Upon actuation the materials perform a specific predefined movement with high spatial and temporal accuracy. This enables novel applications where order of performed actions is critical.
